About Me
About Me: Travel Nurse, Neuro ICU Specialist & RV-Living Mom
Hi there, I’m Jules — the nurse, mom, and storyteller behind this blog. If you’ve visited my homepage, you already know I’m a Neuro ICU nurse and travel nursing enthusiast, but I wanted to share a more in-depth look at who I am and why I started this space.
🩺 My Nursing Journey: From Burnout to Rediscovery
I’ve been a Neuro ICU nurse for the past five years. Like many nurses, I didn’t start in my dream role. I began as a new grad in a Trauma-Surgical ICU and quickly realized the unit (and hospital culture) wasn’t the right fit. I almost left nursing entirely.
After a brief detour into pediatric primary care, I learned two important things:
- I prefer a fast-paced environment.
- Working with kids just wasn’t my calling.
That’s when I gave travel nursing a try — and fell back in love with nursing.
✈️ Why I Chose Travel Nursing
Travel nursing has opened up so many opportunities for me. I get to explore different hospitals and regions of the U.S., and figure out what I love (and don’t love) about various work environments. The beauty of contract work is that if a hospital isn’t the best fit, I know I’m only there for 13 weeks before moving on.
I’ve been lucky to land some incredible assignments where I was welcomed and treated just like the staff nurses — an experience that makes all the difference in morale and motivation.
🏕 Life on the Road: RV Living with My Family
I don’t travel alone. My husband, our two dogs (Fancy and Kali), and our 1.5-year-old son come along for the ride. Last year, we ditched short-term rentals and embraced RV living full-time. It has been a total game changer for us, giving us flexibility, comfort, and a deeper sense of adventure. (More on that coming soon!)

✍️ Why I Started This Blog
I’ve wanted to start this blog for a long time. Writing has always come naturally to me, and I felt called to share my experiences with other nurses — whether you’re just starting out, thinking about travel nursing, or navigating burnout.
I’ll be posting about:
- Working in the ICU
- Life as a travel nurse
- Balancing motherhood on the road
- RV living tips for healthcare workers
- My newest journey into legal nurse consulting
Speaking of which — I recently completed my Legal Nurse Consultant Certification! I’ll be sharing updates as I dive into that part of my career.
