Two weeks post-op and I can finally say that I’m starting to settle in—literally and figuratively. My body’s adjusting, my swelling is gone, and I’m already obsessed with how everything’s shaping up. It’s still early in the healing process, but wow… I can already tell I’m going to be so happy with the results.
Let’s break down what Week 2 recovery looked like, from post-op appointments to bras, sleeping struggles, and trying to parent without picking up my toddler (the real challenge).
🩺 1-Week Post-Op Check-In
I had my first post-op appointment this week, and my surgeon said everything is healing beautifully. He mentioned that my implants are already starting to settle and “drop,” and reminded me that things are only going to look better with time.
Let’s be real, though—I’m already loving my results. 😍
What’s Changed This Week:
- Swelling: Completely gone 🙌
- Sensitivity: My nipples are extremely sensitive (totally normal!)
- Tenderness: My lower breast and incisions are still tender to the touch, but not painful
- Positioning: My implants are still a little high but slowly dropping into place
At the appointment, we decided to leave the Steri-Strips on my incisions until my 4-week follow-up. But if they fall off in the meantime, I was cleared to start using scar cream.
🚗 Driving Again (Sort Of)
Okay, full honesty moment: I never actually asked when I could start driving again. Oops. But I waited until I was off all muscle relaxers and just taking Tylenol so that I was fully alert and mentally ready.
That said, listen to your body AND your provider’s advice. Even if you feel ready, soreness and stiffness can make it hard to check blind spots or turn the wheel. And for me? I drive a big ol’ truck—so squeezing in and out of tight spaces while still feeling tender was not ideal.
🛌 Sleep Is Still Tricky
I’ve officially been cleared to sleep flat on my back, but that doesn’t mean it’s comfortable—especially not in our super firm camper mattress. I still find myself reaching for all the pillows to keep me slightly propped and more supported. And as much as I want to roll onto my side, that’s still a no-go.
No stomach or side sleeping yet—but we’re getting closer!
🐒 Mom Life = Monkey Trainer Mode
Mamas, hear me out: this part is hard.
At 2 weeks post-op, I’m still not allowed to lift more than 15 lbs, which means… I still can’t lift my toddler. Cue the guilt. The logistics. The coaxing.
I feel like a monkey trainer trying to encourage him to climb out of bed or into his car seat while I cheer him on from the sidelines. I can’t go anywhere alone with him yet unless someone else is there to help get him in and out of the car.
If your kids are older and more independent, this part will be easier. But if you’re in toddler land like me? Definitely plan ahead and have support lined up.
👙 Bra Talk: Transitioning Out of the Surgical Bra
At this point, I’ve been cleared to gradually transition out of my surgical bra into non-underwired, non-pushup bras—think soft sports bras or comfy lounge bras.
It’s tricky because we still don’t know the final size, so I picked up a few affordable, stretchy options to wear a couple hours at a time. But honestly? I kept reaching for my surgical bra again after a bit—it still gives the best support and comfort right now.
Why No Underwire or Push-Up?
Because we don’t want to:
- Rub or irritate the incision
- Displace the implant during the early healing
- Apply uneven pressure that could impact final placement
Neutral, supportive, and gentle is the name of the game.
💪 Movement, Exercise & Massage
My surgeon showed me how to gently massage my breasts to help with the drop and fluff process. It’s all about helping the implants settle into the right spot and encouraging a soft, natural feel.
I’ve also been cleared to start some light lower-body exercise—nothing too intense, no running, and definitely nothing high-impact.
My range of motion is mostly back to normal, though some twisting and reaching movements still feel sore. I just take it slow and listen to what my body’s telling me.
🌟 Looking Ahead
By the end of Week 2, I’m still feeling a bit tender, but overall? So good.
I’m sleeping better, moving more, and adjusting to my new shape with more confidence every day.
There’s still a ways to go—but if this is how things look and feel now, I cannot wait to see the final results.
💬 Coming Up in Part 6…
Next week, I’ll be sharing what Week 3 of recovery looks like—including emotional shifts, wardrobe updates, and how life is starting to feel “normal” again (just with a little extra volume up top 😉).
