My Honest Travel Nurse Hospital Reviews: Real Experiences from the Road
Ever wonder what it’s really like to work as a travel nurse at different hospitals across the country?
You’re in the right place.
As part of my travel nursing journey, I’ve worked at a variety of facilities—each with its own personality, challenges, and perks. This page includes my personal hospital reviews, based on my firsthand experience as a travel ICU nurse. I’ve broken each review down into helpful categories to give you a clear, honest picture of what to expect if you’re considering an assignment at one of these locations.
💬 Disclaimer: These reviews reflect my own personal opinions and experiences at the time of my contracts. Your experience may differ, and hospital policies, staff, and procedures may have changed since I worked there. Always do your own research and speak with your recruiter and facility directly before accepting an assignment.
What You’ll Find in Each Hospital Review:
Each review is formatted with the same core details to help you compare and decide if a facility is the right fit for you.
🏥 Hospital Overview
Including location, bed count, trauma/stroke designation, Magnet status, and whether it’s a teaching hospital. I’ll also note any specialties that stood out (think ECMO, transplants, etc.).
💻 Charting System
An honest breakdown of the hospital’s charting system—nothing too deep, but enough to give you an idea of what to expect, what works well, and what was frustrating.
👥 Staff Friendliness & Scrub Colors
Let’s be real: one of the biggest stressors as a traveler is not knowing how you’ll be received by the staff. I’ll tell you how welcoming (or not) the team was and what kind of treatment I got as a traveler.
Plus—I’ll include scrub color requirements (because no one likes scrambling to find a random forest green top the night before orientation).
🔁 Floating Expectations
I’ll tell you whether you’re likely to float often and if your unit truly respected home base assignments. This can be a dealbreaker for many travelers, so I’m keeping it real on this one.
🚗 Parking Info
Parking might seem minor—until it’s not. I’ll share what parking was like for both day and night shift, how far the walk was, and whether you needed a badge, pass, or patience.
